Aims
Our research group at the University of Jordan aims to contribute to the transformation of education by empowering teachers with the skills, mindsets, and tools needed for the 21st century. Our work is guided by the following key aims:
1. Enhance the Integration of 21st Century Skills into Teacher Preparation Programs
To examine and support how teacher education programs embed core 21st-century competencies—critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and digital literacy—into their curricula and practices.
2. Design and Evaluate Effective Professional Development Models
To develop, implement, and evaluate continuous professional learning models that empower educators to create student-centered, reflective, and innovative classroom environments.
3. Investigate Teachers' Readiness and Self-Efficacy Toward Innovation
To explore the factors influencing teachers' confidence and readiness to adopt innovative practices, including digital tools and pedagogical change, and how these beliefs shape classroom implementation.
4. Foster the Development of Teachers' Digital Competence
To support and measure the growth of teachers' digital competencies—such as digital communication, content creation, online safety, and pedagogical technology use—in alignment with global digital literacy frameworks.
5. Explore the Role of Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Learning
To investigate how AI technologies can be ethically and effectively integrated into pedagogy, including their potential for personalizing learning, enhancing assessments, and supporting inclusive practices.
6. Promote Global Citizenship and Digital Ethics in Education
To support educators in fostering global citizenship, equity, and digital responsibility, and to design learning environments that reflect diverse, ethical, and culturally responsive teaching practices.
7. Embed Life-Long Learning and the 4Cs in Teaching Practice
To research and implement strategies that cultivate life-long learning through the continuous application of the 4Cs—critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration—within educational settings.
8. Innovate and Transform Traditional Pedagogies
To drive pedagogical innovation by researching and promoting methods such as flipped learning, design thinking, gamification, and maker-based approaches that engage students and transform traditional teaching.
9. Advance Equity and Inclusion Through Educational Technology
To examine how digital tools and inclusive design strategies can bridge educational gaps, ensuring accessibility and equitable opportunities for all students, including those with diverse needs and abilities.
10. Empower Creative Teaching as a Vehicle for Educational Change
To investigate how fostering creativity in teaching practices contributes to educational innovation, teacher motivation, and the development of adaptable, future-ready learning environments.
Each of these aims reflects our commitment to reimagining teacher education for the 21st century—where empowered educators shape empowered learners, and education becomes a catalyst for lasting social impact.
